OSAKA POPSTAR & KLAUS BEYER ON THE DR. DEMENTO SHOW!

Written on Oct 1

This week’s episode of the Dr. Demento Show features a “musical mutation” block spotlighting the “Extra Crunchy Product Mix” of Osaka Popstar’s “Where’s the Cap’n?” back to back with Klaus Beyer’s German language cover version “Wo ist der Käpt’n?” from the new “Die Shaolin Affen EP” release!

The Dr. Demento Show is radio’s weekly two-hour festival of “mad music” heard on stations coast to coast, and worldwide in streaming audio online. Its a free-wheeling, unpredictable mix of music and comedy. Along with legends like Spike Jones, Stan Freberg, Monty Python, and Frank Zappa, the Doctor plays new funny songs by both amateur and professional singers and comedians alike. This is how the world was first introduced to “Weird Al” Yankovic, who went on to become rock music’s best-known musical satirist. A home-made tape that Al made at age 16 and sent to the Doctor provided him with his very first media exposure.

Check out the playlist of Dr. Demento Show #12-30 and listen to the episode online for the “musical mutation” block featuring Osaka Popstar and Klaus Beyer, along with lots of other great demented music you’re not likely to hear anywhere else!

Fiend Fact: the song “Rat Fink” recorded by the Misfits in 1979 (see “Collection II”) was a cover of the 1963 song parody/novelty record by Allan Sherman, often spun by Doctor Demento.
